AR Jewellery try-ons
An experiment to leverage social media sharing for small artists' businesses

For small artists and craftsmen selling handmade items online, a major source of income is their social media presence. I wondered if selling jewelry you make would be so much easier if your customers could try them on before they buy them. I was trying to figure out a way to do that.
This example was built using Spark AR, it lets you try on earrings virtually using the Instagram Camera. This was perfect because it was designed for social sharing. The Instagram / Facebook Camera effect is available on any phone that runs Instagram or Facebook, and you can share links for your AR try-on. Social media presence and link shareability make self-promotion for individual artists convenient.
I must confess this hasn't been rigorously tested in real life, but a use case is highlighted above.
